Welcome to Rejections Anonymous!
We tweak, massage, rewrite, and even kill our darlings until our work is ready to go out into the world. Painstakingly, we identify the perfect publication, exemplary editor, or amazing agent and we push send. Hopeful, even confident, we wait (patiently) for acceptance, affirmation, accolades until the day finally arrives and we click open the email in breathtaking anticipation…
“I’m going to pass on this…” or “I wish I had better news…” or “Perhaps another agent/editor will feel differently...” Rejected. Again. Or — and this is so frustrating — we never get a reply at all. We are ignored and invisible. We may get painful feedback from agents and editors, or in a class or workshop, or even from a (not so?) well-meaning friend or family member.
We may question ourselves and begin to wonder if we are irrelevant, unworthy. If that’s you, please know you are not alone. You are WORTHY. Your words are RELEVANT. Rejections Anonymous is your community for consolation and validation. This is the place to share your disappointment and to know once and for all you are not alone. We are happy you found us and we hope you’ll share your favorite (and not so favorite) rejections — the ones that really stung or stunned (or sucked) or stuck with you for whatever reason.
Let it rip at Rejections Anonymous.
